DEATH ANNOUNCEMENT IYANYA UKPONG
On behalf of the Ukpong family we are devastated to announce the untimely death of our brother, cousin, son, father and friend, Iyanya Ukpong. On March 24, 2018 Iyanya Ukpong suffered cardiac arrest in Austin, Texas while on assignment for work. He was taken to a nearby Austin, Texas medical facility, but could not be revived.
Those who have had the pleasure of knowing Iyanya (affectionately, known as “YaYa” to many), can’t help but remember him for his humor, infectious spirit, creativity, authenticity and joy for life. His personality lit up a room, his presence lit up our lives, and we will be forever changed by it. He is survived by his parents, Prof. Asuquo Ukpong & Mrs. Grace Ukpong R.N., his daughter Asari(Ayana Flores), his sisters, Iquo “Ekaete” Ukpong, Amaku “Ekamma” Ukpong, and Akpo “Kokoeka” Ukpong, his brother, Orokita “Eteka” Ukpong, and his extended family residing in Calabar, Nigeria, the United States and elsewhere. We love him and he will surely be missed.
